چکیده

Atomic resolution STM images of Au( 11 1) treated with solutions of Na2.9, H2S, or NaSCN display patterns of atoms in the shape of squares with nearest-neighbor distances of 0.27 f 0.3 nm. QCM data demonstrate that Au dissolves in aqueous solutions of sulfide and thiocyanate with 02 present. The square pattern observed is ascribed to images of Au atoms on a reconstructed Au( 11 1) surface caused by dissolution of Au by sulfide or thiocyanate. n-Octadecanethiol/Au( 1 1 1) surfaces damaged by the STM tip display a similar square pattern, indicating removal of Au atoms by the tip in a manner analogous to the dissolution process observed for sulfide or thiocyanate.

Formation of supramolecular protein structures on gold surfaces.

Recent research has highlighted the exciting possibilities enabled by the use of protein structures as nanocomponents to form functional nanodevices. To this end, control over protein-protein and protein-surface interactions is essential. In this study, the authors probe the interaction of human peroxiredoxin 3 with gold surfaces, a protein that has been previously identified as having potentia...

Scanning electrochemical microscopy. 36. A combined scanning electrochemical microscope-quartz crystal microbalance instrument for studying thin films.

The design of a combined scanning electrochemical microscope-quartz crystal microbalance (SECM-QCM) with separate potential control of the tip and substrate is described. Both lateral and vertical tip movements near the substrate affect the QCM resonant frequency because of perturbations of the longitudinal and shear waves of the quartz crystal (QC) acoustic wave sensor. The SECM-QCM was used t...

Molecularly imprinted quartz crystal microbalance sensor based on poly(o-aminothiophenol) membrane and Au nanoparticles for ractopamine determination.

A molecularly imprinted quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) sensor for ractopamine (RAC) detection was developed by electrodepositing a poly-o-aminothiophenol membrane on an Au electrode surface modified by self-assembled Au nanoparticles (AuNPs). The modified electrodes were characterized by cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. This molecul...

Nanocomposite of functionalized multiwall carbon nanotubes with nafion, nano platinum, and nano gold biosensing film for simultaneous determination of ascorbic acid, epinephrine, and uric acid.

A unique bimetallic, nano platinum (Pt) with nano gold (Au) on nafion (NF) incorporated with functionalized multiwall carbon nanotubes (f-MWCNTs) composite film (f-MWCNTs-NF-PtAu) was developed by the potentiostatic method. The composite film exhibits promising efficient catalytic activity towards the oxidation of mixture of biochemical compounds and simultaneous measurement of ascorbate anion,...

Chemical Deposition of Zinc Hydroxosulfide thin Films from Zinc (II) - Ammonia-Thiourea Solutions

The growth of ZnS films from ammonia solutions using thiourea as a sulfur precursor has been investigated. In situ growth kinetic studies have been performed by means of the quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) technique. The experiments have been canied out in pH buffered conditions (pH= 11) and the effect of the addition of amines has been investigated. The film are characterized by various tech...
